arugula flowers

a photographic study

yes, i know, two photos does not a photographic study make, but i've been watching these subtle little beauties for months. i planted rocket in both the front and back gardens last fall just because i love it. because it's basically everywhere i can see it where ever i am in the house. when i'm in the kitchen, dining area or living room, i often find myself gazing at them. not because they are splendidly colored and showy, but because they are constant, subtle and comforting. the soft, creamy, veined, pale yellow petals are a lovely contrast with the earthy reds.

it's a hearty plant withstanding the cold, wet winters here and adding just the right amount of pepperyness to life.

I do love arugula flowers. I always let some go, and my husband asks...why haven't you picked *that*. Well...

beautiful!

it's the same here, Denise.

husband: are we going to eat that?
me: uummmm, no. it's for looking at only.
husband: oh.

Oh but they are so good to eat AND look at. Nothing better than some sweet little flowers splashed around some greens on the plate.

I love all sweet little vegetable flowers!
